How do I find burial records?
The easiest way to determine where someone is buried is to obtain an unofficial copy (less expensive)of their death certificate from the county in which they lived or died. The State of New Jersey Archives also has many of these from various counties.

Cemetery Guidelines
We encourage you to visit the Mount Pleasant Cemetery to take a walk through the History of Newark. When visiting the Cemetery please adhere to the following guidelines: * No Jogging, Bicycling or Skating * No picnics or alcoholic beverages. * No dog walking * The speed limit is 10 miles per hour * Under 18 must be accompanied by adult * No Soliciting * Memorial tributes and decorations are welcome; providing they conform to our Rules & Regulations of The Mount Pleasant Cemetery - Rules & Regulations. Cards, flowers and other appropriate tributes may be placed on single graves or family lots. No tape or other adhesives are to be used to attach tributes to memorials or community mausoleum crypt fronts Candles are NOT permitted.
